About this product
What 80 – 90% super-duty alumina bricks are — and where they fit
80 – 90% super-duty high-alumina refractory bricks are fired refractory products with 80 – 90% Al₂O₃ (aluminium oxide), manufactured from high-purity calcined bauxite, fused alumina or tabular alumina aggregates with closely-controlled matrix grading. The grade sits at the upper end of the high-alumina ladder — well above the 60 / 70% workhorse grades, just below the > 90% corundum tier.
What are 80 – 90% super-duty alumina bricks? They are bauxite-or-alumina-bonded fired refractories whose distinguishing properties are RUL above 1500 °C, CCS above 65 MPa, apparent porosity below 20% and bulk density above 2.70 g/cm³. The grade is specified where slag attack, hot-spot temperature or mechanical abrasion is the limiting failure mode — typically steel ladle slag-line, blast-furnace stove checker chambers and the hot-end of glass-tank port necks.
Compared to HA-70, the 80 – 90% grade delivers roughly 100 °C of additional peak temperature, materially better slag resistance and 50 – 80% longer service life in slag-line duty — at a noticeable price premium that buyers justify through fewer relines and avoided unplanned downtime. Compared to > 90% corundum, super-duty 80 – 90% gives up about 100 °C of peak temperature and some corrosion resistance, but at materially lower per-tonne cost — which keeps it the workhorse "premium" grade for slag-line and stove duty.
firebrickssource.com — Agochar Tech LLP — manufactures and exports the 80 – 90% super-duty grade from Rajkot, Gujarat, India in the standard 230 × 114 × 65 mm size, plus arch / wedge variants, ladle-shaped bricks, glass port-neck specials and custom precast components to drawing. Standard chemistry is IS 1528 / ASTM aligned. The grade is regularly shipped to integrated steel mills, blast-furnace operators and float-glass plants across South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Frequently asked
HA-80/90 — questions buyers ask
What are 80 – 90% super-duty alumina refractory bricks?
80 – 90% super-duty alumina bricks are fired refractory products with 80 – 90% Al₂O₃, manufactured from high-purity calcined bauxite, fused alumina or tabular alumina aggregates. They are the severe-service tier of the high-alumina range — for slag-line, blast-furnace stove and glass-tank port-neck duty.
What is the maximum temperature for 80 – 90% alumina bricks?
80 – 90% super-duty alumina refractory bricks have a refractoriness under load (RUL T₀.₅) of approximately 1500 °C and a maximum service temperature of around 1700 °C, depending on the specific application, slag chemistry and abrasion exposure.
Where are 80 – 90% Al₂O₃ refractory bricks used?
Typical applications include steel ladle slag-line, blast-furnace stove checker chambers, glass tank port neck, severe-service hot-face zones in reheating furnaces, electric arc furnace roof centre, and petrochemical reformer interiors with aggressive chemistry.
When should I move from 70% to 80 – 90% alumina?
Move from HA-70 to super-duty 80 – 90% when slag-line attack, hot-spot temperature or abrasion is the limiting factor — typically steel ladle slag-line, blast-furnace stove checker, glass port neck. The price step is significant but service life in severe-service zones is typically 2 – 3× longer.
What is the standard size of 80 – 90% alumina bricks?
The standard rectangular size is 230 × 114 × 65 mm. Custom sizes, arch and wedge shapes, ladle-shaped bricks, glass port-neck specials and precast components are available on request.
What Incoterms are offered for export shipments?
We typically quote FOB Mundra or FOB Kandla. CIF, CFR and EXW are available on request. Sea-freight rates are confirmed at the time of booking.
Do you provide samples and test certificates?
Yes. Samples can be dispatched on request, normally chargeable. Every batch is tested for apparent porosity, bulk density, cold crushing strength, RUL and Al₂O₃ content; a test certificate ships with each consignment.
