70% high-alumina refractory bricks are fired refractory products with a minimum 70% Al₂O₃ (aluminium oxide) content, manufactured from selected calcined bauxite and high-alumina aggregates fired to a dense ceramic body. The grade sits in the upper half of the high-alumina ladder — clearly above the HA-60 workhorse, clearly below the 80 / 90% super-duty grades.
What are 70% high-alumina bricks? They are bauxite-bonded fired refractories whose distinguishing properties are RUL above 1450 °C, CCS above 55 MPa and bulk density above 2.50 g/cm³. The grade was developed for service zones where peak temperature, slag chemistry or load-bearing creep have pushed HA-60 past its useful life — typically cement kiln burning zone back-up, glass tank regenerator hot end and the back-up layer of steel ladles.
Compared to 60% alumina, HA-70 delivers roughly 100 °C of additional peak temperature, better slag resistance and noticeably higher cold crushing strength — at a modest premium that buyers typically recover through extended lining life. Compared to 80 – 90% super-duty, HA-70 gives up about 100 °C of peak temperature and some abrasion resistance, but at materially lower cost — which keeps it the most-specified premium-tier high-alumina grade.
